Poetry World Series 2016: Seattle Edition with Hugo House!

In association with Hugo House and emceed by the incomparable John Roderick! Two teams of award-winning poets—Jane Wong, John Beer, Michelle Peñaloza, Matthew Nienow, Jeannine Hall Gailey, and Michael Schmeltzer--take turns batting at topics pitched to them by the audience.

Fastballs, curveballs, knuckleballs: these poets won't know what's coming next! Hilarity guaranteed. Eminently qualified judges Sherman Alexie and Nancy Guppy will score each batter's reading, and the winning team takes the series title. Book sale/signing follows the reading.

Doors open at 6:00 (eat, drink, and be merry!) and even starts at 7:00. Tickets are $5 in advance and $10 at the door. Bring a topic to stump the poets with!

As poet Marianne Moore wrote, “Writing is exciting / and baseball is like writing. / You can never tell with either / how it will go.”
